We got home this afternoon after a week at the lake with my family. It was a LONG drive home. The kids actually did pretty good. We did stop around lunch time for an hour and a half to get out at the outlet mall and walk/run around a bit. We got held up a bit on part of 57 due to water on the interstate. There was a portion that was underwater so only one lane was going through. Any more water and they would probably have to close the interstate. Not sure if that happened, but we slowly made our way past that point.
So we are "home" to our tiny apartment. Our hot apartment. We've been home since 4 and the temp still says its 76 in here. It's got a long way to cool down to our nighttime temp of 68.
Tomorrow we are going to go check out some more houses. We have been talking with my dad about the possibility of building. We could get a lot more house for a lot less money if we did a lot of the work ourselves. My dad has built 2 houses and lots of other parts of houses. He is willing to help out as much or as little as we want. We are really thinking about the possibility. We could get exactly what we want. We would just have to be in this tiny apartment a lot longer. And I would have a lot more by myself time with 3 little kids. But we could get a great house in the end. Think of the craft room I could choose for myself :)
Ahhh the decisions to be made...
Glad you made it home safely.
ReplyDeleteIts a tough decision. I know how lonely it can get when you are home with the kids while your husband is gone working. We found it was cheaper to buy an existing house and gut it and start over. The taxes are MUCH cheaper than new construction. We basically have a new 3500 sq ft house but since it was already existing the taxes are based on the year it was built (1875) so we paid $700 in taxes last year. My parents were paying $6000 on their new 4000 sq ft house. Maybe thats an option.
