Can you tell Terril is putting up Christmas lights? And there is a house behind him with lights? And it's only the first week in November. Our whole neighborhood is looking like this. There is a little boy in our neighborhood, Dax, who has been battling cancer for over a year. You can read his story here and here. His cancer has returned and St. Jude has said there is nothing more they can do for him. So his family is celebrating Christmas early, and everyday. And in support, the neighbors, and probably the whole community, are putting up their lights now for Dax.
This was just suggested Sunday. Already the whole street around his house has been decorated, even two houses with newborns (one born this weekend!) I've only met the family once, but have been following his story off and on. Heartbreaking is really the only word.
Hug your kiddos tight, and when you see Christmas lights, say a prayer for Dax and his family.
Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to describe it, but it a wonderful idea to decorate early.
ReplyDeleteHow very sweet of everyone to do something to brighten that little boy's days! Especially for those with newborns! I will add him to my prayers. Heartbreaking is right.
